The Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R was introduced in 1995 and mostly kept the good traits of its predecessor the R32 or tried to better them.

With 4675mm of length and 1360mm of height, the R33 is not only longer and higher than the R32 , but with 1780mm also wider than the latter and overall looks much more impressive than its predecessor. It is rounder, too, with a design that appears more balanced and beautiful than the previous ones.
 Factory Specification
The R33 GT-R keeps the RB26DETT engine from the R32 GT-R. The power is still the same with an official 280bhp at 6800rpm, although unofficially it is assumed to be around 302hp.

Increased peak turbo-boost of 0.84bar, an improved intercooler and changed computer control parameters make for a higher torque of 375Nm (271 lb-ft) at 4400rpm. As usual, power is deployed via the 5-speed Getrag gearbox

and ATTESA-ETS to all four wheels.

The cornering is further improved by Super-HICAS which features front and rear yaw rate control.

Nissan also produced a V-Spec version which was treated to the Pro version of ATTESA-ETS with revised torque proportioning, a stiffer and 10mm lower suspension and other mechanical changes.
 Project Aims
Trying to build a car that looks stunning, goes and handles like its on rails and with neck straining brakes is a difficult feat by anybodies standards. So you ask can we do it… Well read on!
Nemesis UK Project Nissan Skyline GT-R R33
The car originally started out life as a mildly tuned silver R33 GT-R already imported wearing a Veilside bodykit. After several months of enjoying the car in its original form the yearning for more power soon took over and hence the start of what can only be described as a ‘No Expense Spared' ground up rebuild was on the drawing board.

The car was first given a complete ground up engine rebuild so out came the original engine for its first modifications to take place. Whilst the engine was out of its hole, the entire engine bay was prepared for a full re-spray in satin black to help dissipate the excessive heat this monster was going to through out.

With the engine on the workshop bench work started striping the engine and the following parts were removed from the store room to meet there new owner and ‘place of rest'.

Reading the spec list may take you some time but here goes…

HKS stroker kit (2800cc), Carrillo steel con-rods, HKS forged pistons (87mm), Nismo N1 bottom end bearings, Nismo uprated oil pump, Trust sump extension with baffles, Cylinder head to Nemesis spec ported knife edged polished with matched manifolds, Tomei camshafts 270 10.25 mil lift, HKS vernier camshaft pulleys, Tomei kevlar cambelt, HKS 1.2mm steel head gasket with HKS metal gaskets all round, HKS 25/30 roller bearing twin turbos, HKS turbo elbows, Apexi Power-FC programmable ECU, HKS Evc-5 boost controller, HKS circle earth kit, Sard 650cc injectors, HKS fuel rail, HKS high pressure fuel regulator, F.S.E fuel pump, NGK-Racing iridium spark plugs, Twin Apexi air filters, Twin Nissan Z32 80mm (300zx turbo) Airflow meters, Nemesis Z32 airflow meter adapter kit, HKS GT Intercooler with hard pipe kit, Blitz remote oil filter kit, Blitz oil cooler with stainless braided hoses, ARC stainless oil catch tank & washer bottle, Rising Sun GTR polished stainless fuse box cover (etched), Rising Sun GTR polished stainless cooling plate / slam panel, Rising Sun GTR billet oil filler cap, Blitz NUR Spec-R exhaust, HKS front pipe and de-cat, Twin Blitz super sound dump valves, Nemesis custom strut brace, Blitz 1.2bar high pressure radiator cap, Nemesis cover plate smoothed then colour coded & air brushed, Nemesis custom engine bay dress up, complete with Samco hose kit with braided lines and covers and topped up with 76' Racing oil.

Once the engine was finished we then turned our attention to the exterior of the car. Off came the original VeilSide body kit and in its place was fitted a full VeilSide C1 kit. We then opted for the wide arch extensions originally designed for the VeilSide 350Z, custom cutting the arches to fit over both the Skyline's original arches and the C1 body kit. Finally we designed and manufactured our own headlight conversion kit to replace the standard headlight units. After several weeks of cutting, aligning and fixing the kit in place the car was taking shape and the search for the perfect wheels to fill the arches and look the part started.

In the end we opted for 18 inch VeilSide Evolution V split rim alloys finished in Silver with a highly polished chrome outer rim. Finding rubber to match was not going to be a budget exercise either and in the end we chose the highly rated Pirelli P-Zero's. Tyre sizes came in at fronts 18x10 275/35 R18 with the rears 18x12 315/30 R18.

Using the standard braking system with a car pushing out this level of performance was going to need some serious attention paying in the braking department. We opted for the following setup. The front consists of Tarox 325mm cross drilled and grooved discs with standard Brembo 4 pot callipers using Ferodo D2500 pads. The rears weren't left alone either with again Brembo 2 pot (standard on the GTR) with Goodridge stainless braided hoses fitted all round and topped up with Dot 5.1 brake fluid. Lastly a Tomei master cylinder stop kit was fitted.

With the power plant and running gear nearing completion our attention then turned to the exterior finish of the car. We decided on using Standox's Liquid Silver paint with a custom airbrush design down both sides in a light shade of black with highlights of white so as not to over kill the finished paint scheme. The choice of design was a montage of the Tokyo skyline down one side and the New York skyline down the other. We then added a JUN carbon hood using bonnet pins to ensure that the bonnet stays closed at speed. Armourfend protective film was then added to the front bumper, wheel arches & side skirts to protect the finished paint work when out on the road.

Next to be added was a VeilSide Version III Carbon rear wing to help provide maximum traction and stability out of corners and at high speeds. Nismo carbon fibre A-pillar covers replaced the standard plastic items and Ganador carbon fibre electric mirrors finished things off nicely.

The transmission is currently utilising the standard 5-speed manual (for the moment while it lasts) , HKS GT Twin plate clutch with lightweight flywheel and cover plate , GTR 4WD system. Tein's coilovers were then matted to the Electronic Damper Controller enabling the driver to change damper settings directly from the drivers seat.

With the engine and exterior now completely finished work quickly started stripping out the original interior which when finished was re-trimmed in a two tone colour scheme comprising of black with light grey inserts and piped in matching grey. To finish things off inside the car, the addition of a VeilSide steering wheel again trimmed in matching light grey and black leather and aluminium VeilSide gear knob transformed the normally drab standard interior into a usable and aesthetically pleasing environment to spend time in.

This is by no means the completion if this project and expect to see many new performance alterations in the future… We will keep you posted!
